'Sukajan' - more commonly known as Souvenir Jacket's - first appeared in tailoring shops near U.S. air-bases in the 1950s. Renowned for their excellent embroidering techniques, the influx of money into Japan after the war made these jackets affordable for soldiers, and so they became an incredibly popular memento for soldiers serving abroad.
This version is inspired by a vintage piece, with details such as the squadron number, 'chuck' embroidery, and misspelled Nagasaki taken directly from it. Like the originals, Buzz Rickson's version is completly reversible, with the outside sporting a Velveteen construction with embroidered F-86 and dragon detailing, and the inside constructed of a silvery, quilted Acetate that featuring embroidered tigers and a map of Japan. The jacket is finished off with two pockets on each side of the jacket, and 100% Wool ribbed cuffs, hem and collar.
